I was born Jill Bishop on July 9, 1953 in Boston. Here I am at ten with my mother, father, and two brothers, Greg and Dick. This is one of the few pictures of me in a dress. My parents were excited to finally have a girl, but I wasn't so keen on the girl-business.

I spent a lot of time hanging upside down in trees... I've always been an animal lover--all kinds of animals. My parents were very patient. Dad had to shave quickly because my squirrel liked to sit on his shoulder and lick off the shaving cream. And Mom never complained--even when she found snakes in the bathtub. The animals always outnumbered the humans in our house…

And then there are the professional phases...

When I graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Mathematics teaching jobs were scarce. I modeled for a year to pay the rent until I landed a part-time teaching job at Dover-Sherborn High School in Massachusetts. That's not a geometry proof behind me on the blackboard. It's one of my favorite Albert Einstein quotations; "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason."

And now I write…… the reason? Because I am still curious….
